Read moreCongratulations to our 2nd year apprentice Amy Smith who recently won the Best Female Tradesperson of the Year at the Awards Night at Townsville TAFE. She was also a finalist in the Apprentice Of The Year.
We took the opportunity to offer Amy a job to continue her apprenticeship after Tony Ireland Charters Towers closed its doors almost a year ago. Amy’s enthusiasm for the job and the trade is awesome to see; and she definitely enjoyed the free tickets to the V8 Supercars in Townsville this year, requesting to look at their toolboxes whilst on a Pit Tour!
The amount of customers we have commenting that it’s great to see a female out in the workshop is always so lovely to hear.
Upon being declared the winner of the Award, the TAFE Teacher in his speech said;
“Amy is a highly motivated individual who isn’t afraid to give things a go. Amy always asks questions to achieve a deeper understanding and is always willing to help her classmates who need a hand. Throughout her training, Amy has certainly demonstrated she can hold her own in an industry dominated by males, [and] is passionate about the Automotive Trade.”
We hope that Amy’s achievements inspire and encourage other females to go into trades.
