Bon Voyage Repco Retrialers
Bright and early on an August Sunday morning we headed down to Lissner Park in the middle of Charters Towers to say bon voyage to the Repco Reliability Retrial Participants who had an overnight stay in Charters Towers on their epic Around Australia Adventure.
The Re-Trial is the 40th Anniversary of the original 1979 version of the event. All vehicles entered are at least 40 years old - with one even being 90 years old - making their way around Australia in 28 days.
The Park was still a little foggy and the flying foxes were serenading us (I guess you can call their screaching that) when the cars lined up for the monring briefing before heading up towards Greenvale on the Gregory Devleopment Highway, before stopping at Ravenshoe for lunch, then down the Gilies Range (hopefully keeping down their lunches) to arrive in Cairns.
Unfortuntately Entrant #29, known as "Floris" the 1959 Riley 1.5, had an issue with its Carby and was carried back to The Towers for some repairs.
