Read moreWhat is a Log Book Service?
When you purchase a vehicle, the manufacturer will specify the intervals at which various filters and fluids are to be replaced.
This is either by time intervals (months since last service) or kilometer intervals. Log books set out when the manufacturer suggest that these serviceable items are changed out to comply with manufacturers suggestion or specifications.
Why do I need a log book service?
The logbook service also has a list of items that should be checked every time, or at certain intervals. This ensures that your car is kept in a well-maintained condition, and that any problems are identified. By choosing a mechanic that you trust and continue a relationship with them over the life of your vehicle, they can look back through the history and suggest what maintenance items needs to be done and suggest when service items should be replaced.
What happens if I miss a Service?
Missing services may not seem that important, but like your own health, little problems can become big problems if left unattended. What can start off as a small leak, or a small movement in a component, can deteriorate over 12 or 24 months if you miss a service to the point that expensive repairs are required. Regular services are just like regular check ups with your Doctor or Dentist.
Do you have Loan cars and how much do they cost?
At this stage we do not have any Courtesy Cars, but are always happy to pick up and drop off customers. We also have an early-bird lock box. Just contact the friendly staff to arrange a lock code to be advised.
Will I lose my New Car Warranty if I don't go back to the dealer?
The quick answer is no - no statutory warranty can be legally voided by servicing your car at your choice of mechanic, even if you are told this at the time of purchase. The proviso is that you haven't entered into a "extended warranty" plan that the small print forces you to go back to the purchasing dealership to not void the extended warranty section of your agreement. Although sometimes the coverage of this extended warranty is not as thorough as you'd think. It always pays to read the fine print or get a second opinion from your mechanic before signing on the dotted line.
In fact, manufacturers are not allowed to force you to take the vehicle back to them for servicing although they imply it keeps your vehicle warranty intact. Having your vehicle serviced by an independent workshop like Towers Automotive not only saves you money, but the whole process is more convenient without affecting your new car warranty at all. We have more information on this for you in our article. Please click here.

How often should I really service my car?
Being in business for over 17 years now, this still isn't an easy answer! Being in a small town, not everyone will do the kilometres in the time the logbook suggests. As a rule of thumb we suggest every 12-months or 10,000km whichever comes first. If your logbook intervals are 15,000km we recommend 7,500km and 12 months.
I don't drive much, do I still need a service?
Yes. Oil manufacturers recommend that oil is replaced as oil degrades over time, not just with usage. Services can also identify little problems before they become big problems.
Can you fix other things while my car is being serviced?
Absolutely. If you are concerned about anything on your car we can have a look during the service. Any items of concern that we identify during the service can also be fixed on the same day, after provision of an updated price and approval by the customer.
Can you wash my car?
We certainly can for an additional price. We can also detail cars on request. Please call the workshop for pricing.
Do you use good quality oils and parts?
We stand by our good name so only use good quality oils and parts that are supported by reputable companies.
Do you check my brakes during a service?
Yes. We measure the amount of brake pad or shoe left, as well as testing the hydraulic operation of your brakes on our Safe-T-Stop which you will receive a copy of.
